Northeast Dairy Compact Commission Announces
New Public Information Director
Northeast Dairy Compact Commission Executive Director Ken Becker announced today that David Ferch has joined the Compact Commission as the Public Information Director.
Mr. Ferch, a journalist with nine years of experience with news and information organizations throughout the Northeast and a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, will be responsible for providing pertinent and timely information to the Compact commissioners on events in the volatile dairy market and particularly in relation to Class 1 drinking milk. Mr. Ferch will also provide information about compact commission activities to the media, the public, business and government organizations.
Becker said, "I am very pleased that David has joined our staff. David brings a wealth of practical experience from the World Bank and the Dow Jones, as well as news reporting and agricultural reporting from throughout New England. I am confident in David’s ability to assist the Compact commissioners and the public and lawmakers who want to learn more about how the commission operates and how it is affecting farmers and consumers."
Northeast Dairy Compact Commission Chairman Mae S. Schmidle of Connecticut expressed her reaction to Mr. Ferch. "The addition of David Ferch to the Compact staff enables our commissioners to have important and necessary information about what is happening in the dairy and milk industry almost immediately. Timely information is critical to the Compact commission particularly in relation to crafting the rules and regulations that have economic and nutritional affects on consumers and farmers. Through our web site and the media, David will also be producing timely information to the interested public, farmers, consumers, legislators and the industry in general."
Ferch said, "The positive and important impact of the Northeast Dairy Compact throughout New England is undeniable. I look forward to working with the commissioners and I look forward to helping the public understand the valuable role the Northeast Dairy Compact."
